The Cottage industry is the backbone of the rural economy and has a significant role in developing economies the world over. The Hastkala Setu Yojana, supported by the Government of Gujarat through the Commissioner of Cottage and Rural industry aims to reach out to artisans and aspiring entrepreneurs across each district of Gujarat. The Hastkala Setu Yojana aims to be a bridge between artisans/ budding entrepreneurs through the value chain enhancement. It has been envisaged to design and implement an integrated model to provide entrepreneurs with opportunities for their livelihood as well as sustainable development.

Being an industry that has its origins in rural India, it also engages itself with craft clusters in different parts of the state and provides support for product development and marketing. Creating incubation facilities to link them to potential markets, the project approach is a two pronged model. It strengthens and hones the skills of the existing artisans, while developing a value chain to nurture the budding ones. At the same time, it revives lost crafts of the region. Crafts and Art practices still constitute the core of our composite culture and Hastkala Setu Yojana is playing a pivotal role in preserving them.

Hastkala Setu is Gujarat’s window to the world. A huge window that is well stocked with authentic handloom and handicrafts, hand picked selection, design development, impeccable quality, careful variety stamped with ethnicity and offers a wide range to choose from. To implement an integrated model to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the state of Gujarat by creating rural incubators across all districts in the state. These rural incubators will innovate, Train, provide mentorship and strengthen the entire entrepreneurship value chain.
